yep, i’ve got some talented friends
I know absolutely nothing about what’s “cool” in music.
This was first apparent in 5th grade. I was interviewed by a local paper and asked who my favorite musical artist was. I said Bette Midler. (I still actually love her …)
Over the years, various friends would try to make me mix-tapes and casually suggest I listen. In college, my far less subtle suitemates tried to educate me through “Good-Music-Mondays.” Nothing worked. What can I say – I liked what I liked.
But hope came when Joel and I moved to Atlanta and became friends with Daniel Dewitt. At the time, he was the lead singer of Winston Audio. And they were amazing. I know this is not just my opinion, but actual fact, since my many friends with better taste also echoed this statement.
And I hope I don’t embarrass Daniel by saying that while Winston Audio collectively was great, he was by far the best part. He is one of those amazing people, gifted with a talent so big and yet a heart that is still incredibly humble. Daniel knows great music and Daniel knows how to make great music.
Winston Audio, sadly, is no more. But Daniel, lucky for us, is still making music. A few weeks ago, Daniel asked if I could take some photos for the cover of a Christmas album that he was doing. I think my reply was not so much words, but jumping up and down and squealing with delight (in true monica fashion).
This album is incredible. Seriously y’all. Go to this page and download immediately. It’s free (!!!) so you have no excuses.
PS – If none of the above impresses you about Daniel, maybe knowing that he married Mackenzie will help. Mackenzie is the model for the monica B portrait classes and all over my portfolio and site. See more proof of her gorgeous-ness below. (AND she helped sing on the album – how crazy amazing is this couple?!)
Did you go download the album yet? Good. Just checking. =)
