2010 with monica B
Between weddings, classes, engagement sessions, family portraits and even a few maternity shoots, I had a jam-packed 2010. And I loved every minute of it. I thought it’d be fun to look back and share some of my favorite images from 2010.
I began my wedding year in March, with Dili and Elson’s gorgeous wedding. One of my favorite details from the wedding was all the little pink touches – Dili is a girl after my own heart!
In April, I shot Annalesa’s wedding … she and her husband had already had a ceremony far away from their family and friends, so this was more of a chance to celebrate with all the people they loved. This reception was an awesome party, and one of the highlights for me was teaching all the guests how to do the electric slide!
The day after Annalesa’s wedding, Joel and I left for a 2-week trip to Israel with my family. It was an extraordinary experience, and we will never, ever forget it. And you know I have to share one of my favorite images – ever – from the trip!
Then Carmen and Clay got married! I think they are such amazing people, and what struck me about their day was how thrilled they were to marry each other. There was such a beautiful anticipation of their life together.
In June, Abigail and Jacob got married at an amazing outdoor venue – I loved it! We had all sorts of fun places to shoot. It was so evident to me how their family and friends were so “for” them as a couple. And so clear why. They are absolutely meant to be together.
June also kicked off the beginning of monica B classes! Before the classes began, I wasn’t sure what how it would all work out. Would anyone come? Would they go well? Thankfully, the classes have been nothing but a huge source of inspiration and encouragement to me! I love, love, love teaching and now I can’t imagine not having them as part of my business. Here’s a pic of me looking maybe a little too enthusiastic. What can I say, I really do love it!
Keturah’s wedding was in July and possibly one of the hottest weddings of the year! But who cares when there are two people so ready to get married and be together.
In August, Melissa and Brian got married at Primrose Cottage. Melissa could not be sweeter and I feel like that sweetness was a part of their day. She was radiant and lovely.
Later that month, Brooks & Adam were wed. I was also asked to shoot their rehearsal dinner – it was such an honor to be there and listen to their family and friends describe them both as individuals and a couple. It was clear that they were made for each other.
September kicked off the beginning of the crazy fall wedding season! Sandra and Jonathan were married in downtown Decatur – so you know I loved that! Their reception venue was amazing, and they allowed for tons of creative photo time. I had a blast being a part of their big day.
October began with a back to back wedding weekend. First, Jennifer and David had a beautiful yacht club wedding. This two are the definition of Southern charm. I felt so welcome and at home at their wedding!
Then Cristi & Stacy were married in a lovely outdoor ceremony, in the midst of all their friends and family. At their reception, Stacy sang to Cristi. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the crowd! These two lovebirds belong together.
Then Sara and Andy tied the knot in a 10-10-10 wedding. Their wedding party was up for anything, so we were able to get some amazing group shots after the ceremony. Loved it! I also love Sara and Andy and I felt so privileged to capture their day.
Then I traveled to DC to shoot the gorgeous Josh & Ashley and their vineyard ceremony. It was Joel’s first trip to DC, and we had a blast. Josh and Ashley took dance classes to surprise their guests with an awesome choreographed first dance … it was amaaazing. I also loved hearing the story of how they went from good friends to couldn’t live without each other and now together forever.
Stephanie and Tripp got married at dusk in early November. I felt right at home all day with Stephanie and her sisters. Stephanie and Tripp were just so ready to finally be married and their wedding was stress-free and fabulous.
The next day, Rachel and Kameron also had an outdoor ceremony. It’s hard for me to even describe the joy of their day. Rachel was radiant and Kameron’s love for her was so bright and clear. It was a fairly cold day for Atlanta, but I’m not sure they even noticed. I think from the moment their eyes met as she walked down the aisle, all that existed for each one was the other.
Later that month, Katie and Amilcar shared a completely moving wedding. I think the only thing stronger than their passion for helping others is their intense love for each other. I am completely in awe and inspired by them as a couple.
In December, Sara and Kurtis were wed. Their day felt magical … from all the thought that went into the tiniest of details, to the looks they shared during our portrait time … it was simply beautiful and just so right.
On New Year’s Eve, I got to shoot Carey’s wedding. It was a blast! She wanted to have a big party where everyone had a great time – and that’s exactly what she got!
(But of course, that’s just the weddings! I’ll save all the other sessions for another recap …)
And there went 2010! I’m looking forward to an even more amazing 2011 … I’m kicking off my wedding season this weekend, as I head to Los Angeles to shoot what I know will be a completely romantic one-of-a-kind outdoor ceremony. Pictures, of course, will follow!
